Google Workspace
Migration

Move from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 — Gmail to Exchange Online, Google Drive to SharePoint and OneDrive, Google Calendar to Outlook — with complete data fidelity.

Overview

What this migration involves

Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migrations cover multiple product pairs: Gmail maps to Exchange Online, Google Drive maps to SharePoint Online and OneDrive, Google Calendar maps to Outlook Calendar, and Google Contacts map to Outlook Contacts.

Each workload has its own migration tooling, data structures, and edge cases. CloudyNex handles all of them in a coordinated sequence so your team transitions cleanly across the full suite. For the full planning picture, see our Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migration guide, including what happens to your Google Drive files.

What makes this migration complex

01
Label to folder mapping

Gmail uses labels rather than folders. Mapping these correctly to Outlook's folder hierarchy must be carefully planned to preserve the logical organisation of each user's inbox — see our Gmail to Outlook migration guide for the full detail.

02
Shared Drive permissions

Google Shared Drive permissions must be remapped to SharePoint permissions. Group memberships and access levels need precise translation without gaps.

03
User adoption

Moving from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 is a significant experience change. Communication planning and user documentation reduce friction at cutover.

Our Process

How we run the migration

01 — Audit
Environment audit
Audit of Gmail mailbox sizes, Drive storage volumes, Shared Drive structures, and Calendar configurations.
02 — Mapping
Identity mapping
Every user, group, and Shared Drive membership mapped to its Microsoft 365 equivalent before migration begins.
03 — Pilot
Pilot migration
A representative group migrated first — email, Drive, Calendar, and Contacts — to validate the plan end to end.
04 — Pre-stage
Historical data sync
Gmail history and Drive content synced before cutover to minimise the live migration window.
05 — Cutover
DNS and MX update
MX records updated, Google Workspace email paused, final sync completed, users switched to Microsoft 365.
06 — Hypercare
Post-migration support
7-day priority support. Device setup guidance. Source workspace maintained until full sign-off.
